Paint supplies

Oil paint supplies tend to be kind of expensive, but there are ways that you can save money on them. If you can’t help but paint, but you still want to do other things (like eat), there are a few things you can do.

• Forget canvas – By choosing to use something other than canvas, you can save some money. Hardwood or even scraps of plywood can be used to be painted on. If you choose to use a non-traditional item to paint on, remember to sand the surface first and then cover with a base coat of white primer before you paint.

• Use acrylic primer – Using acrylic primer for your paint supplies instead of chalk-based primer can also save you some money. The one thing you will need to remember, however, is that you will need to apply at least three layers of acrylic primer if that is the route you choose to take.

• Mix you own paint – Getting paint mixed sometimes makes the paint supplies cost more, but you can do the mixing yourself. It might take a little experimentation, but before long you should be able to get the hang of it.
